What do we do?U3A Maryborough is a community based not for profit organisation which offers social opportunities to attend fun, fitness and mental activities with like-minded people over the age of 50 at a very cheap price. Classes are tutored by skilled and willing volunteers and may vary and change over time depending on the volunteers who offer to teach their skills. So keep your eye on the classes and also make suggestions of what you may like to learn or perhaps what you would like to teach.
Hervey Bay U3A and Howard U3A also offer a wide range of classes with whom U3A Maryborough has a reciprocal arrangement for financial members. U3A Online also have a large range of classes, both tutored and self-paced that you can undertake in the comfort of your own home. Check it out! Changes in regard to Covid 19Due to Covid19 Rules and Regulations it has been necessary to continue to make some changes. It is to be noted that Class Numbers may need to be limited in a number of cases due to physical distancing rules and numbers allowed in venues as the situation changes. This we will update when necessary.
New members will only be accepted to a class if there is availability left in the classes. We are maintaining waiting lists when necessary, so please when you register as a member also nominate which class or classes you are interested in and we will accommodate you as soon as possible. As the year progresses we also monitor those members who are registered in a class but no longer attend to ensure that where possible we can maximise the numbers in our classes without exceeding the allowed numbers. Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to offer a trial period for new members as class places could be restricted due to COVID. However if space permits you will be allowed to attend 1 - 2 class to observe if this is the class you like. You must however become a member and register with Amy as membership coordinator and Anne as class coordinator before you attend. |
Our Volunteer TutorsWe are fortunate to have quite a number of skilled tutors who organize and run the classes. Their names and phone numbers are listed on the classes schedule. If you would like to discuss particular classes please phone them directly so they can answer your questions. We are however always looking for willing volunteer tutors and potential new classes, so if you have something to offer, please get in touch with our President or our Class Coordinator (See Contact Us). Courses can be run for any period of time a tutor considers suitable. Cost is kept to a minimum to allow greater access for members. Many activities are held at the MadCota Community Hub in Alice Street where brochures and additional information can be obtained. Venues however are not limited to buildings.
Tutors are granted a subscription rebate for the class they tutor but they must pay for subscription and enrollment for classes they attend which are not tutored by themselves. Examples of Potential Future Classes
